As part of efforts to strengthen the implementation framework for the New Tax Reform Acts 2025, the Bauchi State Internal Revenue Service under leadership of the Executive Chairman, Muazu Usman FCNA, FCTI, FCCrFA, organized a one-day sensitization workshop on 29/11/2025 for members of the Bauchi State House of Assembly Committee of Finance. The workshop which took place at Command Guest Inn, Bauchi, provided a platform for robust discussions, knowledge sharing, and capacity building among participants on the provisions, objectives, and expected outcomes of the 2025 Tax Reform Acts. During the sessions, resource person Abdulra’uf Aliyu, a Public Analyst and Financial Expert delivered insightful presentations that guided participants through the new fiscal framework, emphasizing the importance of effective policy interpretation, improved tax administration, and stakeholder collaboration to drive sustainable revenue growth across the State.
In his opening remarks, the Executive Chairman thanked the Bauchi State House of Assembly Committee of Finance and appreciates all the participants for their commitment, support, and dedication towards improving the revenue architecture of the state. He particularly acknowledged the Hon. Commissioner of Finance and the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, describing their attendance as a demonstration of support for effective collaboration in promoting fiscal transparency and accountability. In addition, the Executive Chairman further state that the sensitization was organized to ensure a shared understanding among lawmakers and other stakeholders on the new tax reforms, which are designed to make tax administration more efficient, transparent, and citizen-friendly, adding that this is consistent with this administration’s determination to strengthen compliance, reduce leakages, and expand the State’s revenue base in line with the vision of His Excellency the Executive Governor of Bauchi State drive for economic transformation.
In his goodwill message, the Chairman House Committee of Finance Hon. Ibrahim Tanko Burra commended the leadership of the BIRS for organizing the workshop and pledge to continue to support the State fiscal management and innovative revenue mobilization strategies. He noted that the implementation of the reforms will significantly improve the State’s Internally Generated Revenue.
